If you live in the UK, you’ve probably seen the chain store named the Works. If you’re also an arts and crafts enthusiast, you probably know that they have a wide range of affordable supplies, and often run multibuy offers on various DIY activity kits. I recently used one of the sets I purchased a while ago – a bath bomb making kit.
I’ve tried various types of adult activity book. The earliest trend I remember was for detailed colouring books for adults. Then, I found a connect-the-dots book with hundreds of dots per image. These activity books are great as stress relief, a good one to try if yoga or meditation aren’t your thing. They’re also fun to do!
October the 1st marks the start of Halloween season, even if the supermarkets make it look like it’s Christmas already. As much as I love Christmas, I do like to have an autumnal transition period between summer and Christmas. I can’t imagine any Halloween celebrations actually taking place this year, but it doesn’t mean I can’t decorate the house as if everything was normal.
My list of interests and hobbies grows every day and it would cost a fair amount of paper to write them all down. However, there are two things that consume more of my mind than others – DIY projects and reptiles. So I thought, why not combine both in one endeavour?
In recent years, mandalas significantly grew in popularity. Loads of arts and crafts ideas use mandala patterns, they can make spectacular, abstract designs in drawings and paintings. There are mandalas printed on T-shirts, mandala wallpapers and even mandala tattoos are more and more common. I’ve written about the trivia of the patterns of Asian origin before. Today, I’ll share a step by step tutorial to drawing a perfect mandala from scratch.
Today’s craft is the last but one card of the season. The only one left to make is a card for my Mum’s birthday. Today however, I’m sharing the card I made for my Dad for Father’s Day, which in Poland is every year on June 23rd. And since my dad loves photography, I thought I’d make a camera-themed watercolour card. With flowers, of course – every card needs some flowers!
I don’t know about your countries, but mine is now entering the carnival period. Christmas officially ended a few days ago, and the time before Lent is supposed to host colourful, jolly parties. Our celebrations aren’t as prominent as those you’d see in Brazil though, and the group that has the most fun are… children! The project I’m coming with today would have made me so happy 20 years ago! The beginning of February is the time when Valentine’s Day occupies every public space. Those who celebrate it – get prepared, those who don’t – complain about the commercial aspect of the holiday. If you belong to the first group and also happen to enjoy little craft projects, you might be planning to make a Valentine’s card. And for all handmade cards in general, it’s nice to have some little decorations to add as details. Today – the 2nd of February – marks the official end of Christmas in my country’s culture, tightly connected to religious aspect of Christmas (you can read more about our traditions here). This day makes a perfect occasion for my big Christmas-released project to be released for the first time. I’ve gathered all of my Christmas recipes, craft and gift ideas and inspirations that have already been published on this blog, added those that are still yet to be published (that’s right, I didn’t manage to post all of my Christmas adventures in December and had to schedule some for 2019) and arranged them all into a festive book. It took a lot of work, but it’s finally ready and available to download right now, for free, for everyone!
After a few food-related posts, I think it’s time for some more papercrafts. And no quilling this time! Today, I’m coming with a super simple craft idea – paper roses. They only use supplies I’m sure you have at home, take close to no time and require no skills. Sounds great, doesn’t it? 🙂 You can make them in any size or colour, with or without stems! Big roses will look nice in a vase, while smaller ones can be used for handmade cards and such. We love such versatility in crafts, don’t we?
