I’ve recently posted an extensive guide for working with chocolate. Now, it’s time to have a look at another popular cookie decor medium – royal icing. In this guide, I will show you how to prepare royal icing, how to adjust its consistency, how to use it for cookie decor and also how to prepare little decorations in advance, to use them on cookies at a later time. So, without further ado, let’s get cracking!

How to Melt Chocolate, Colour It and Use for Cookie Decorating – Step by Step Ultimate Guide
Although seemingly simple, working with chocolate can be an unforgiving task. One mistake, one drop of water, and you’re left with a bowl of dry, lumpy, somewhat chocolatey blob. Not the worst in taste, perhaps, but visually unattractive and useless for any form of cookie decor. That’s why it’s crucial to follow a few rules while working with chocolate. In this article, I will show you how to properly melt chocolate. I will also show you how you can colour it with powdered food colouring. I will also share some ideas for chocolate cookie decor and how to prepare your chocolate decorations in advance. So, without further ado, let’s get started!

January in photos
A little throwback to January. Looks like all I did that month was eat and craft Hopefully February will bring more diversity, although the weather is still wintery (we got hit by a fresh supply of snow last night…) and doesn’t encourage leaving the warmth and coziness of my house. I do however have one exciting afternoon planned for next week and I can’t wait for it!
Watercolours

I came across some watercolour painting tutorials channel on YouTube the other day and instantly thought how weird it was that I still hadn’t tried that popular technique! Feeling inspired, the next day I bought a set of watercolours and some paper.
Stress relief – colouring books for adults
Good afternoon, I hope everyone’s having a great day (even though it’s Monday :D)
I decided to tidy up my desk the other day and found my old colouring books that I’d completely forgotten… and now I’m hooked on colouring again. It’s said to be a great stress relief, which is surprising, cause I’d imagine it should be easy to get frustrated with all those teeny tiny details. I have to admit I never tried to use those books for that purpose (when stressed out I’m not able to do anything, I don’t even think about things like colouring books), but I do like to fill them in my spare time to relax – it’s good to let your brain shut down for a while whilst doing simple, mindless tasks after a long and hectic day.

More papercrafts… cards!
So I’ve been on this papercrafting spree since the New Year’s… first making gift tags, now switching to cards 😀 One of them will go to my grandma on Grandmother’s Day (we celebrate it on January 21st), the rest… no idea, but I’ll sure find a use for them 🙂
DIY gift tags
Hey everyone 🙂
Time for a more light-hearted post.
First half of each year is always filled with tons of special occasions for me – all members of my close family have birthdays between March and July, there’s Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, Grandmother’s Day, Easter… and sometimes more if there’s something that deserves celebrating. Due to my busy lifestyle, I don’t always have time to prepare everything I need shortly before those occasions – that’s why I like to make some bits in advance while watching YouTube or Netflix.
