Many of us are stuck at homes under lockdown, and it’s important to look after ourselves and eat healthily. But healthy doesn’t have to be dull and flavourless! Today, I’m coming with a healthy breakfast treat recipe. Perhaps slightly less healthy than a smoothie from leafy greens, but still made with natural ingredients, low in fat and sugar, but packed with protein and macro elements. And most importantly – delicious!
Cherry and chocolate are one of my favourite flavour combinations. It just feels like they complement each other perfectly. The delicate sourness of cherries breaks the sweetness of chocolate and adds the perfect flavour definition.
Ingredients for 1 serving:
- 40g quinoa
- 1/2 cup water
- 1/2 cup milk
- Vanilla extract
- 2 teaspoons of honey
- Cherries
- 1 heaping teaspoon of dark cocoa powder
Cook quinoa in water and milk for around 15 minutes on low heat. Stir in cocoa powder and a few drops of vanilla extract, sweeten with honey.
Pour into a bowl and decorate with cherries.

A healthy idea for a breakfast treat.
Ingredients
- 40g quinoa
- 1/2 cup water
- 1/2 cup milk

- 2 teaspoons of honey

- a handful of cherries
Directions
- Cook quinoa in water and milk for ~15 minutes.
- Stir in vanila extract and cocoa powder.
- Sweeten with honey.
- Pour into a bowl, decorate with cherries.

This looks delicious! I really need to start doing better about eating healthier. For some reason staying home makes me want to eat a lot of sweets. 🙂
