This recipe is one of my favourite discoveries of 2020. Extremely quick and easy to make, and I usually have all the ingredients available at home anyway. Perfect as a refreshing dessert in summer, but I can definitely see myself making it in winter as well.
I bought a big bag of frozen berries months ago, with the intention to use them in porridge over time. Turns out, I ended up making porridge with fresh fruits instead, explored other breakfast options or ate breakfast at work, whatever my company supplied. Half a year later, I still had the bag of frozen berries in the freezer, almost intact.
Everything changed when I was introduced to iced berries at friends’ house. Ever since that moment, I’ve been slowly but surely using up the berries in my freezer. The recipe is incredibly simple, but the final result is just delicious. All you need is frozen berries (of course), white chocolate (I’m pretty sure other chocolate would work well too, it just wouldn’t look like icing) and a splash of milk. The hot chocolate sauce softens the berries to an edible texture, and the dessert is a perfect combination of hot and cold. I’d say it’s also on the healthy side. Yummy!
Ingredients:
- frozen berries (strawberries, blueberries, blackberries, raspberries etc)
- a few squares of white chocolate
- a splash of milk
Melt the chocolate with a splash of milk on the hob, on very low heat. Stir constantly.
Place frozen berries in a bowl. Ice them with hot, melted chocolate.
Enjoy!
