Star signs. A controversial subject. Some deeply believe that our fate and personality traits are all written in the stars, eagerly track horoscopes and when in doubt – ask the skies for opinion. Others play astrology down, considering it to be a collection of made-up fairy tales. Personally, I simply find the whole concept fascinating and – being naturally curious – thought I’d like to learn more about the idea that’s been growing and evolving for centuries.
There are many different types of horoscopes and many branches of astrology. This year, I’m going to focus on classic Western astrology and its twelve star signs.
Aquarius is the ruling star sign between the 20th/21st of January and the 18th-20th of February (exact dates differ between years). Since the month of Aquarius begins around today-tomorrow, it’s a good opportunity to have a look at the features of this star sign and its bearers. Let’s get started, shall we?
General information
Aquarius people are considered great humanitarians. Highly intellectual, they’re deep thinkers, but love to help and support others. They’re able to see both sides of an argument, which makes them great at problem solving. Although they enjoy being with other people, they sometimes need time off to recharge. Strong sides of Aquarians include being original and independent and the ability to see hope even when there’s none. Their weaknesses include being temperamental and uncompromising.
Aquarians like to fight for a good cause, they also enjoy intellectual conversations, in which they’re able to express their ideas, but also listen to the other side.
What Aquarians dislike are loneliness, broken promises and limitations.
Career and money
Aquarians bring enthusiasm to everything they do. They’re able to think outside the box and come up with original, unconventional solutions and ideas. They’re independent and innovative and don’t like being blocked by strict procedures and guidelines – freedom is Aquarians’ air.
Bearers of this sign are believed to have an amazing ability to keep healthy balance between spending and saving their money. Aquarians feel free to express their style, which can be seen in the way they dress or decorate their homes.
Unconventional, creative jobs such as acting, photography or writing are perfect for Aquarians. Being able to listen to people and willing to share their knowledge, they also make great teachers.
Relationships
Although Aquarians feel great surrounded by people, it might take a while before they develop a close relationship. Sensitive and cautious, they don’t want to become vulnerable and potentially get hurt. However, once in a close relationship, they will do absolutely everything for the person involved – to the point of self-sacrifice. They always take care of their friends and family and help them when in need.
In terms of romantic relationships, Aquarians believe in true love. They look for a partner, best friend and soulmate in one, and they don’t lower their expectations. They may have dozens of friends around them and yet spend a long time searching for that one person to fall in love with.
What’s your opinion on star signs? Do you believe there’s something behind them or do you treat them as made-up theories backed with no evidence? Do you read horoscopes?
If you’re an Aquarius or know someone whose birthday falls between the 20th of January and the 18th of February (the dates may differ between years, usually by +/- 1 day) – how close (or far) from reality were the characteristics listed in this article?

Iโve never believed that stuff. Sorry, what a buzzkill aye? ๐คญโบ๏ธโค๏ธ

Ah well I never said I did ๐ I don’t believe in horoscopes and my brain tells me there’s absolutely no way that my personality can be influenced by my star sign… That being said, all descriptions of my star sign as pretty damn accurate!

I apologise if I offended you Alphe. Sometimes my mouth thinks before my little brain does. ๐

I dated an Aquarius man recently, and these were his exact qualities! I don’t believe in the daily horoscope predictions but these signs tell almost completely everything about a persons character! Am Leo and I’ve also seen the qualities in me also.

That’s exactly what I think! I don’t really believe that our fate is written in the stars, but my mum always says that my character is 100% a Leo (I’m a Leo too, high five!). And I have to say, all of those personality traits listed in Leo descriptions match me perfectly!

I am an Aquarian and I believe in those traits a lot–maybe so much so that I have subconsciously molded myself on them rather than they being influenced by my star sign.

Oh interesting! Aquarians are supposed to be good teachers and you work as one, would you say that career choice was influenced by your star sign?

Hmmmm? I will need time to think about that. Definitely, my dream of being a writer is influenced by my star sign.

I find that reading about someone’s star sign can be a great aid in figuring them out or learning their tendencies.

Interesting! How often, would you say, are those descriptions accurate?

As often as I’ve been in a relationship ๐ Actually, sometimes the star sign description can fit really well, other times less so, but there is usually something to learn that can explain a lot, and perhaps something I didn’t figure out on my own.

Hmm… I don’t know how it works, but that’s more or less what I’ve been thinking – somehow those descriptions are pretty accurate on most occasions, and if not – there’s still a detail or two that say a lot.

I find horoscopes fascinating and especially when I see certain character traits in people. Also, it is just a fun read every now and again ๐
