Stress Relief – Circle Numbers Colouring Book

Stress Relief – Circle Numbers Colouring Book

Stress relief is definitely something worth attention in current times. Stress relief methods that we can do at home to kill some time? Even better! Over two years ago I posted about adult colouring books and recommended them as a way to relax at home. Recently, I came across an interesting colouring book with a twist. I’ve tried it and it’s really fun!

I found this book in a shop called the Flying Tiger – they haveย  stores all over Europe, in the US and in a few Asian countries. They sell… random things is the best way to describe them. Bits of homeware, party supplies, arts and crafts supplies, toys and sweets. It’s one of my favourite shops to visit when I’m bored, I always leave with a bag of stuff – some of it useful, some of it not so much, but always something that can keep me busy for a while.

This time, I bought an interesting colouring book. I think most of us remember colouring books from our childhoods, where the picture was divided into areas marked with numbers and every number had a colour assigned that you needed to use to colour that area. The principle of the book that I’d bought is similar – every picture consists of elements marked with numbers 1-5. We don’t get the instructions for what colours to use though – instead, the only guidance is to use a gradient of 5 colours that go from the lightest to the darkest.

Since all elements are circular, it’s not always obvious what the final picture will be, which is another thing that I like about this book.

I picked a picture and chose 5 colours: yellow, orange, light brown, dark brown and black.

I started with the lightest colours (numbers 1 & 2) and finished with black (5).

Turns out the picture I had picked was a cute pug!

I definitely recommend adult colouring books. They’re relaxing and can be a nice activity for a cold winter evening, or when you’re in lockdown due to coronavirus. Colouring books and jigsaw puzzles are both great repellents of boredom at home.

Do you have any other relaxing activities to do at home?

  1. I like the idea of adult coloring books, I’m not sure one that I had no clue what it would be would relax or stress me out. I enjoy doing some simple sketching in a journal as well as adding watercolors to my sketches. Nothing elaborate so there is no pressure involved. Thanks for sharing these books I will look for them now.
