Oh hi! I’m coming with a post that’s not a recipe, for once? Cannot be! A while ago (well, it’s almost been 2 years!) I wrote about my makeup favourites. I think it’s about time to update that list. π I decided to go for my top 5 products (listed in a random order).
Foundation – Rimmel Lasting Finish 25h Breathable
(As if 24 hours weren’t unrealistic enough, they had to up the game by making it 25h, right? π Just a thought, I find it a bit funny.) The reason why my favourite foundation has changed since the last list is that… the old one seems to have been discontinued? Ouch! The pain you feel when you finally find something you love, to soon discover that it’s no longer being made. I generally struggle with foundations – 99% of the drugstore-available ones come in colours that simply don’t get along with my complexion. Luckily the new Rimmel Lasting Finish Breathable range seems to have inherited colours from the discontinued Lasting Finish (white tubes). They’re not 100% identical, but close enough – still a lot better than other drugstore foundations. The only minus from me would be the form of application. I was utterly gutted when I first saw that brush…stick…thing. First of all, this can’t be the most hygienic form of application (touching your face with that stick, then putting it back in the container?). Secondly… I just don’t like glass containers, whatever they come with – stick brushes, pumps, whatever – I always feel like you can’t use them up entirely and it’s almost impossible to scrape every last drop from the container. Plastic squeezable bottles may not look that posh or fancy, but they sure are a lot more practical!
Rice/bamboo powders
No change in this point. Short and simple ingredient list, nice mattifying effect… they just do their job. Can’t see myself ever switching away from these. π
Wibo Modern eyeshadow palette
I mentioned this palette in my favourites 2017 post – it was a Christmas gift I received from my sister, I instantly fell in love with it and now – almost a year later – it’s still a staple for my everyday makeup. Sorry to all of you outside Poland (so basically 100% of my blog’s visitors ) – it’s probably unavailable in your countries.
Eyebrow pomades
It took me an incredibly long time to find an eyebrow product that would work the way I want it. I’ve gone through pencils, powders, mascaras…Β and they all looked, well, horrible (perhaps I’m just not the most skilled eyebrow product user ). Discovering pomades was literally life changing and it’s the one makeup product I can’t live without (oh, the struggle of dying your hair a dark colour and having blonde, barely visible eyebrows… always need to draw them on before you can leave the house, unless you want to risk scaring strangers on the streets).
Lip liners
So for the majority of my adult, makeup-using life, I lived without lip liners. I didn’t really see the point of using them, until I tried one and – my God – they actually do help lipsticks stay on for longer. And not only that – I’ll even often use the pencil alone, for a matte look that lasts way, way longer than any matte lipstick does. I now have a nice selection of liners, out of which one of my favourites – one that I will always use alone, as if it was a lipstick itself – happens to be a liner by Lidl’s own brand. Honestly, it was under Β£1, but I just love both the nude-pink colour and the formula able to survive two breakfasts (yes, we have two breakfasts in Poland. no, we’re notΒ Hobbits) and a few cups of coffee. π
Beautiful photo! πβ€οΈ

Aw, thank you!
I’d definitely recommend eyebrow pomades to anyone who does their eyebrows every day, I find pomades so, so much easier to work with than pencils or powders!
