In 2024, I discovered a new hobby: cross stitching. I finished countless projects, mainly buying assorted kits with original designs and all necessary supplies. My final cross stitching endeavour of the year turned out to be the biggest disaster of all times – I ran out of three colours of yarn! You can read about that worst cross stitch kit ever in this post. So, starting the first project of 2025, I hoped to avoid any problems. Luckily, this small strawberry design was a complete success!

New Year’s Resolutions 2025
It’s 2025 already. Can you believe that? Me neither! The time flies so fast. I hope you all have an amazing year. This year, I decided to make New Year’s resolutions. It’s not something I do every year, but a few months ago I discovered an old blog post in which I set my resolutions for 2018. I had a lot of fun reading through that list and verifying how much of those things I eventually accomplished. So, I figured it would be nice to compile a list of resolutions for 2025, and then come back to it a few years later to see how they went. I spent some time thinking about it and ended up with a list that combines resolutions from a few different areas. I rarely write such personal posts, but I here it is!

With Christmas just around the corner, I’ve been enjoying festive crafts recently. One of the projects I worked on was a cross stitch image featuring a car carrying a decorated Christmas Tree. I’ve completed numerous cross stitch projects over the past year, but this time, it didn’t go to plan. In fact, I have to call it the worst assorted DIY kit I’ve ever seen! I managed to save the day in the end, but the process was far from a relaxing journey. Phew!

This year, one of my greatest hobbies has been cross stitching. I’ve completed numerous projects and especially loved working on seasonal designs for Easter and Halloween. So now, in the run up to Christmas, I obviously had to find some time in between baking and gift shopping to do some Christmassy cross stitching! This time, I completed a cute mini design featuring Santa Claus with his large gift bag.

Christmas is just around the corner, and that means one thing – it’s officially time for Christmas crafts. This week, I decided to try something new – needle felting. I found this DIY needle felting kit on sale in January, bought it, and saved it for the next festive season. I wasn’t sure if I was going to enjoy this craft, but I actually ended up loving it! And whilst I was working on this cute project, I decided to divert from the original instructions and turned my felt gingerbread men into gift tags for my family members instead of making a garland. I can’t wait to use them on this year’s Christmas gifts!

Today, I’d like to share yet another tiny cross stitch project I’ve recently completed. And if you’ve been following my sewing adventures and think the design looks somewhat familiar… well, there’s a reason for it! A few months ago, I shared a hummingbird project, which remains one of my favourites to this day. It featured a cute bird inside a floral wreath, all kept in bright shades of yellow, orange, red, blue and green. Recently, I randomly saw a mini cross stitch kit in a shop, and it instantly reminded me of that past design. So of course, I had to buy it!

With the spooky season officially here, it was time to finally do some Halloween crafts. And what could I have chosen if not a cross stitching project, with sewing being my main hobby this year? I found this cute scarecrow design in TKMaxx and it was too good not to buy. With a small wobble on the way, I soon had a finished scarecrow ready for the spooky times.

My cross stitching journey continues, and the latest chapter was a memorable one for sure. Octopuses – or octopi – have a special place in my heart due to work related reasons and when I saw a cross stitch kit featuring an octopus, I didn’t think twice – I had to get it. Slowly but surely, I sewed through the design. It was probably the most exhausting and time consuming project I’ve worked on so far, and placing the final stitches tasted sweeter than ever. Here’s how my most recent cross stitching adventure went.
