Hmm… when was the last time I posted a savoury recipe? It’s been a while! December was filled with an abundance of chocolate and icing, so I believe it’s time for something different. Here they are – delicious, healthy patties with green peas, chickpeas and millet groats. Soft, fresh and delicate… And super simple to make!
This must be one of my luckiest experiments in the last weeks regarding savoury food. The goal was to use up some of the leftover ingredients, the result… I’ve made these at least 5 times so far. So yummy! With a texture so delicate, they just dissolve in your mouth. Definitely a must-try, if you ask me. π
For about 10 small patties (enough for 2 servings) you’ll need:
- 1/2 cup green peas (frozen, not canned – defrost them first)
- 70g canned chickpeas, drained (net weight)
- 30g millet groats
- 1 egg
- 1 tablespoon of rolled oats
- 1 heaping tablespoon of oat flour
- salt, pepper, paprika, garlic powder, dried onion flakes, chilli
- coconut oil for frying
Cook millet groats following the instructions on the package, then drain them. Combine all ingredients and blend them in a food processor or with a hand blender.
Heat up coconut oil on a pan and form patties using 2 heaping teaspoons of the mixture for each. Fry for a few minutes, until they’ve firmed up more or less halfway through and are golden-brown on the bottom, and when you’re able to turn them over. Then, turn them over and fry for another few minutes on the other side.
Serve with extras of your choice. Sides from the photo: cooked broccoli, 2 slices of sourdough rye bread (home-made by my mum – the best bread in the whole wide world!) and garlic sauce.
Enjoy π
