One of my New Year’s Resolutions for 2025 was to learn to crochet. It was challenging at the start – you can read about by troubles here – but I’m now able to complete simple crocheted projects. Recently, I managed to make two cute avocado coasters. I’m by no means a crocheting expert, but I learnt a lot when working on this project and even managed to improve between the two coasters. Here is how it went!

Summer is just around the corner. Can you believe that we’re almost halfway through 2025? The weather here in the UK has been amazing for the last couple of months, and it definitely feels like summer already. So, my most recently completed cross stitch project had to reflect that. From my large stash of cross stitch sets, I chose a small sailboat design. It gave me the ultimate holiday vibes. Despite slight issues with the colours of the thread included in the set – which happens quite often with those assorted sets – I had fun cross stitching this picture. Yet another cross stitch project completed!

I’ve been using Duolingo – the most popular language learning mobile app – for many years. I’m close to hitting a 6-year streak of completing at least one lesson per day, and I made a lot of progress in learning Spanish. Duolingo is free to use, but it also has a paid subscription plan, called Super Duolingo. I have never paid for Duolingo in the many years of using the app, but I was recently granted a 3 day free trial. So, I tested the additional features included in the paid plan and here is what I think. Is it worth paying for Super Duolingo?

Today, I’m bringing you a recipe for Silesian potato dumplings, known in Poland as Kluski Śląskie – a traditional potato recipe, part of the traditional Sunday dinner in the south of Poland. It’s a staple in many homes to this day! Almost everyone loves potatoes, one of the most versatile vegetables, used all around the world. We all know chips, roast potatoes and mashed potatoes, but did you know that you can also serve your potatoes as dumplings? This recipe is similar to Italian gnocchi, but Silesian potato dumplings are used as a starchy side to meat dishes, rather than served in sauce. They’re naturally gluten-free, which is a great alternative for those with gluten intolerance. They’re incredibly quick and easy to make. It’s a great way to reuse any leftover potatoes!

My cross stitching adventures continue. I can’t believe it’s already been a year and a half since I started cross stitching! It’s the most relaxing craft for me. I love to grab a needle in the evening and slowly sew a vibrant pattern to wind down after a long day. This time, I wanted to share my most recently completed project, which features vases with green leaves. I really liked how three-dimensional the pattern looked, and the bright leaves made the design pop. The colours included in the set weren’t perfect, but overall, the project was a success.

It’s simple and quick, though requires a tiny bit of advance planning to let the fish marinade in the fridge.
