After over 6 years of doing my lessons every single day, I finally finished the Spanish course on Duolingo. It was one of my New Year’s Resolutions for 2025, and on October 8th, I reached my goal. In this post, I will tell you what happens when you finish a course on Duolingo, and whether you can learn a language on Duolingo alone. I will also share my thoughts about the popular app, and my learning journey.

It’s hard to believe, but we’re now approaching the final quarter of 2025. Back in January, I made a list of New Year’s Resolutions for 2025, with a variety of goals, ranging from fitness to crafts and education. I’ve already shared a post with my 3-month progress and a 6-month check-in. Today, I’m returning with a 9-month report, the final one before the end-of-year summary. As expected, there have been some ups and downs, but the crucial thing is that I’m still working on this year’s resolutions, and haven’t given up.

I’ve been using Duolingo – the most popular language learning mobile app – for many years. I’m close to hitting a 6-year streak of completing at least one lesson per day, and I made a lot of progress in learning Spanish. Duolingo is free to use, but it also has a paid subscription plan, called Super Duolingo. I have never paid for Duolingo in the many years of using the app, but I was recently granted a 3 day free trial. So, I tested the additional features included in the paid plan and here is what I think. Is it worth paying for Super Duolingo?

It’s the end of March already, can you believe that? This year is flying by! It feels like I was only setting my New Year’s Resolutions yesterday, and now we’re already one quarter into the new year. As I promised in my original post where I listed my New Year’s Resolutions, I’m coming with a quarterly check-in. Partly to keep myself accountable, and partly because I think it will be interesting to look back on in a few year’s time. And of course, partly in case there’s anyone out there curious to see how other people’s resolutions are going. I set myself quite a few goals this year. Some of them I’m progessing well towards, others – not so much. Let’s go through the whole list.

It’s 2025 already. Can you believe that? Me neither! The time flies so fast. I hope you all have an amazing year. This year, I decided to make New Year’s resolutions. It’s not something I do every year, but a few months ago I discovered an old blog post in which I set my resolutions for 2018. I had a lot of fun reading through that list and verifying how much of those things I eventually accomplished. So, I figured it would be nice to compile a list of resolutions for 2025, and then come back to it a few years later to see how they went. I spent some time thinking about it and ended up with a list that combines resolutions from a few different areas. I rarely write such personal posts, but I here it is!

I originally downloaded Duolingo and made my account in 2016, but only used it sporadically for a few years, until one August day in 2019, when I started the streak that lasts until today.
