My 10 Favourite High Protein Recipes (Sweet And Savoury)

I love protein. As an avid gym goer and someone interested in nutrition, I fully appreciate the power of protein in our diet. Not only does it help build and maintain muscle tissue, but it also keeps us full for longer, as it’s the most satiating macronutrient of all. I always look for new high protein recipes, to keep my diet high in protein, but also fun and delicious. I’ve chosen 10 of my favourite high protein recipes from this blog and collected them all in one post. If you’re looking for nutritious and tasty recipes to try, check out my list! Hopefully, it will give you some inspirations.

1. The Best Healthy Chicken Nuggets

Let’s start with my favourite recipe for chicken nuggets. Seasoned to perfection, they are a great snack or part of a full meal. Especially great with a tasty dip. Covered in sourdough breadcrumbs, baked in an air fryer to keep them low in fat. These chicken nuggets are a staple in my meal rota!

3. High Protein Vegetarian Lasagne

If you associate lasagne with not so healthy, but certainly delicious comfort food, you need to try this high protein vegetarian lasagne. That’s right! There’s no meat in this recipe, and yet it’s packed with protein. Trust me, when I first made this lasagne, I couldn’t believe how good it was. I’ve made it numerous times and it always hits the spot. This recipe can also be adjusted to make a vegan lasagne, if that’s your dietary preference.

4. Creamy Chicken in Mushroom and Leek Sauce

Name a more iconic duo than mushroom and leeks? They’re a match made in heaven! This recipe only uses a handful of ingredients and is quick and easy to make. You won’t believe how creamy this chicken in leek and mushroom sauce is, despite being low in fat. Tastes great served with black rice. Yum!

5. Mushroom Chicken Meatballs

Mushrooms are one of the highest-protein veggies, and they’re also packed with fibre and vitamins. Combine them with lean chicken, and you’ll have a protein bomb. These mushroom chicken meatballs taste like the heartiest of meals and the most traditional homemade dinner. The mushroom gravy will coat your mouth with flavours, despite being low in fat. Serve these meatballs with mashed potatoes and let your tastebuds scream in happiness!

6. Kopytka – Polish Quark Cheese Dumplings

Another sweet recipe in the list of my favourite high protein meals, but also a tribute to my Polish roots. Enjoy it for breakfast or as a sweet lunch. Simple to make, these quark cheese dumplings are packed with protein! You can serve them with your favourite fruits, jam, cinnamon, honey… it’s all up to your imagination! One of my favourite items in the Polish cuisine, and a fantastic way to make sure I have a high protein meal that looks and tastes like dessert.

7. Corn Flake Chicken Nuggets

This is one of my old-but-gold recipes. Quite literally gold, as the corn flakes turn into beautiful golden-brown colour in the oven. I feel like corn flake chicken nuggets have been a thing for absolute ages, but I’m not surprised – they’re so good! High in protein, naturally, and low in fat since they’re baked, not fried. They will make a great snack, but if you make a larger batch, it’ll be perfect as party food. Delicious!

8. Cottage Cheese Seeded Bread

This high protein cottage cheese seeded bread is one of my most recent discoveries, and it’s a great one! Who would have thought that home made bread can be so easy to prepare, taste great, and on top of that be packed with protein? The addition of nigella seeds adds a fantastic aroma and will make your mouth water whilst the bread is baking. This recipe makes a dough that can easily be baked as a loaf, but also shaped into rolls or bagels. Just be warned – if you try it once, you’ll want to make it every day!

9. Air Fryer Roasted Chicken Breast

One of the main reasons why I bought an air fryer was to be able to quickly and easily make grilled chicken breast. Heating up a whole oven to cook just one small piece of chicken felt like an overkill, and the results were always disappointing – tough, dry and chewy. Unlike this recipe for a chicken breast air fried to perfection! It’s by far my most frequently cooked air fryer recipe and it turns out delicious every time without fail. Give it a try yourself!

10. High Protein Strawberry Mousse

If you’re looking for a high protein dessert idea, search no more! This high protein strawberry mousse is light like a cloud and will melt in your mouth. It’s a throwback to my childhood, when my Mum used to make this occasionally. You can modify this recipe and use your favourite seasonal fruits, so treat it like a base for many possible desserts. A sweet snack can, indeed, be packed in protein!
