Oops, I did it again! I finished yet another cross stitch project. It seems like 2024 will go down as the one when I cross stitched through my spare time. This time, I completed a mini kit with a unicorn design. Simple, but cute. A always, I enjoyed my time cross stitching during some rainy afternoons (we’ve had quite a few of those in London recently)!
Most of the cross stitch kits I’ve completed over the past few months were bought in TK Maxx. They are great value for money, at around £3 for a set including a blank aida, a hoop, assorted threads, a couple of needles, a threader (my new favourite tool) and, of course, the design itself.

I feel like it will soon be time for me to try some cross stitching without a pre-assorted kit. I could find a cute design online and buy a blank aida and threads. It will feel more “professional” for sure, but frankly – it’s not the most cost-efficient. Just buying a few different colours of yarn will add up to much more than a whole kit. I’m tempted to try it though, just for the experience. I’m also thinking of creating my own designs and, further down the line, I might even try to cross stitch them onto clothes! That way it’ll be more than just a small project to complete and forget – I could enjoy my creations for years whilst wearing them.
…but for now, let’s stick to the pre-assorted kits. This unicorn design was one of the small-sized ones, and it took me just a few afternoons to complete!

I need to come up with a creative use for my past projects. At the moment, all of my completed designs end up in a big drawer, doomed to stay there forever. Perhaps I should make a display wall somewhere in my flat, frame all of the designs and hang them there? Let me know what you think!
