Hello, fellow crafters! You may have noticed my newfound love for sewing recently, especially cross stitching. I have loved buying DIY cross stitch kits with pre-assorted supplies. Today, I want to share another one of them. With Easter just around the corner, I loved working on this Easter bunny cross stitch design.
The kit I bought contained all the tools and supplies needed to complete the project. From an embroidery hoop, to a blank aida, a needle and a threader, yarn in assorted colours and – most importantly – a leaflet with instructions and the diagram.

I made a start on the project and had the first shapes done in no time. My commitment to cross stitching over the last few months is paying off and I’m able to complete new project with less and less issues.

However, I quickly realised that the colours of the yarn included in the kit didn’t fully match the design. For example, there was only one shade of grey, but the design clearly called for two. The pale blue flowers also didn’t make much sense to me. There was pale blue yarn included in the kit indeed, but it was pretty obvious that it wouldn’t stand out from the blank aida enough. You can even see it in the diagram in the photo above – if you look closely, there are three large pale blue flowers in the design, barely visible.
I wasn’t entirely surprised with the colour dilemma. If you remember my recent cross stitch parrots, a project made with a kit from the same brand as this Easter one, I also ran into trouble with the pre-assorted yarn colours. Luckily, at this point I have completed so many cross stitch projects that I have an abundance of yarn leftovers to pick from. I found some black and pink yarn in my little stash to use in this Easter Bunny project instead of what was originally provided in the kit.

And just like that, I had the Easter Bunny cross stitch project completed. I’m still thoroughly enjoying my sewing journey. In fact, I have about five more kits in the drawer, so keep your eyes peeled for that!
And, if you’re reading this before Easter – I wish you all a happy holiday. 🐰
