We may be in between two festive periods – Halloween and Christmas – but it’s never a bad time for a generic crafty project. This time, I completed yet another cross stitch piece from an assorted kit, depicting a floral cat. I got it in TKMaxx, like most of the assorted craft kits, and for around £2. It was a good use of money – kept me busy for a couple of hours!
Contents of the kit
As always, we’re starting with a quick look at the contents of the kit. It included a blank white aida, embroidery thread in several colours, a couple of needles, a threader, and an embroidery hoop. There was also a leaflet with the pattern, pretty essential.

Starting off
Usually, when I work on these cross stitch projects, I tend to sew the colours one by one. That’s exactly what I did here, too.
I started with the pink thread and stitched the flowers and the cat’s nose. It wasn’t long before I had all of the pink details finished.

Half way there
The second colour I reached for was the teal green. I proceeded to sew the leaves and the cat’s eyes, and once I got there, half of the project was done. I only had two more colours to go!

Nearly finished
Next, I cross stitched the dark brown details, which really brought the design to life. I could see the details of the cat’s face and ears.

Another cross stitch project finished
And finally, I added the last colour, orange-brown, to finish the project. Considering how simple this pattern was and that it only used 4 colours, I think it turned out really cute! There were no problems with the amount or shades of the thread included in the kit, which sometimes happens with cross stitch sets by this brand. Everything went smoothly and I just had a relaxing time cross stitching this floral cat.
Christmas is coming, and if you’re looking for gift ideas, why not consider assorted craft kits? If you know someone creative, they might appreciate a crafty project. Those sets include all of the tools and supplies needed to complete a whole project, and they’re usually really affordable. Cross stitch kits are great, but you can also find crochet sets on various difficulty levels, candle making sets, diamond painting, painting by numbers, bath bomb sets and so much more.
