Can you believe that this year is slowly coming to an end? I feel like time flies faster and faster every year! Sticking to my blog’s long running tradition, I’m taking you on a photo journey around London in autumn 2025. Technically, the season hasn’t ended yet, but the city is now dressed up in Christmas decorations, and there will be a separate photo post with those. So for now, I’m taking you to colourful parks and a couple of autumnal events. Let’s go!

Weird Foods I Ate Growing Up In Poland
Moving abroad 6 years ago taught me numerous things. One of them was realising just how different people’s dietary habits are between different countries, even when those countries are located in the same area of the world. History also plays a part in it – poorer nations tend to have very different diets than the richer ones. I grew up in Poland, in the 1990s. Now, Poland has caught up with the Western world and young people are well familiar with oat milk matcha lattes and similar staples of 21st century foods. But back in the 90s, things were much different. I recently thought back to my childhood and all of the meals that were part of my usual diet, and realised that a lot of my peers in the UK would be perplexed hearing about my childhood menu. So, I decided to share with you some of the meals that I used to eat regularly. I hope you find this list interesting!

Learning to crochet was one of my New Year’s Resolutions for 2025. I thought it would be great to be able to turn a ball of yarn into any shape imaginable. Well, I’m still miles from being able to create my own patterns, but I’ve made good progress learning various types of stitches, and successfully completed about 10 small projects in the last few months. This time, I’d like to show you my latest creation – a cute hedgehog, which taught me how to add interesting texture to a crocheted piece. As usually, I got an assorted set in TK Maxx for a bargain price.

At the end of September, I had a chance to visit Switzerland and Italy on a short trip for a friend’s wedding. I’ve already posted about my day in Bellinzona, a stunning Swiss town with three castles. Today, I’m taking you to Milan, Italy, where I spent a few days. I visited the most popular landmarks, enjoyed some delicious Italian food, and even had a chance to go on an afternoon trip to one of the famous Italian lakes. Here is how I spent a few days in Milan, plus some ideas of activities I didn’t manage to fit in my schedule this time.

When I was still at the very beginning of my crocheting journey, I got carried away buying assorted DIY kits for simple crochet projects. I’m still far from being a crocheting pro, but I’ve learnt a lot since then and can finish simple projects in close to no time, without the need to look at tutorials. I’m still going through the stash of sets I bought a few months ago, and recently, I crocheted a simple watermelon keychain. And although it was a very basic project, it still taught me a lesson. Here’s some crochet inspiration, and a great candidate for a first crochet project!

After over 6 years of doing my lessons every single day, I finally finished the Spanish course on Duolingo. It was one of my New Year’s Resolutions for 2025, and on October 8th, I reached my goal. In this post, I will tell you what happens when you finish a course on Duolingo, and whether you can learn a language on Duolingo alone. I will also share my thoughts about the popular app, and my learning journey.

We may be in between two festive periods – Halloween and Christmas – but it’s never a bad time for a generic crafty project. This time, I completed yet another cross stitch piece from an assorted kit, depicting a floral cat. I got it in TKMaxx, like most of the assorted craft kits, and for around £2. It was a good use of money – kept me busy for a couple of hours!

You may remember a few recent posts about my hikes in the Polish Tatra Mountains from my summer holiday. Today, I’d like to share with you a few places and activities to do in Zakopane on a non-hiking day. Some of them are also a great option for a rainy day, which isn’t a rare occurrence in the mountains. Here’s a few things to do in Zakopane, including food options, viewing points, a mini zoo, and more.
