Lemonade Ice Cubes

Lemonade Ice Cubes

Of all summer recipes there are two that belong to this season the most. The first one is ice cream – something I’m yet to attempt – and the second are ice cubes. You could say that ice cubes don’t need a recipe – you just freeze some filtered water and that’s it. And that’s true, you don’t need a recipe, but you can use one for a nice, fancy result.

I wanted to make ice cubes that aren’t plain and boring, and there was one obvious path for me to take. My absolute favourite, refreshing summer drink is lemonade. Not store-bought lemonade with artificial flavouring, but home-made lemonade made with real lemons. And that’s what I decided to turn into ice cubes. Adding chopped up lemon or summer fruits makes them not just tasty, but also cool-looking!

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup water
  • juice from 1/2 lemon
  • 1-2 teaspoons of honey
  • chopped up lemon or strawberries (optional)

Heat up water with honey until the honey has dissolved. Add lemon juice and stir well. Set aside to cool.

Chop up a few slices of lemon/a few strawberries or other fruits of your choice. Place a piece of a fruit in each ice cube tray cell.

Fill the ice cube tray with your lemonade and freeze. Enjoy!
