Caramelised Apples – Perfect For Desserts, Pancakes, Porridge (And More)

Apples. One fruit available in stores in my country all year round. Perfect both to eat raw as well as to use it for cakes, desserts and other sweet dishes. Today, I’m bringing you a simple recipe for caramelised apples – super quick to make, great for all kinds of sweet dishes: I like to eat them on pancakes, waffles, with rice and sugar or in porridge.

Ingredients:

  • 1 apple
  • drizzle of vanilla extract
  • sprinkle of cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon of butter (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon of sugar

Peel the apple and cut it into cubes of desired size – I typically go for rather small chunks, but it’s up to you and your preferences. Combine all ingredients with the chopped up apple on a non-stick pan (I recommend ceramic ones).

Cook the apples on small heat until they’ve softened and the sugar has melted and coated the apples. Stir the contents of the pan as you cook them.

Caramelised apples make a great topping for pancakes and waffles. I also like to add them to my porridge.

Enjoy!

These caramelised apples can also be used in cakes, like this:

  1. I love anything apple – I haven’t done this for a long time, you’ve inspired me to make some pancakes this weekend for the grandsons, in-fact maybe I’ll have them learn to follow a recipe and make it themselves – this would be a good one for them. Love it!

    1. Oh amazing! This is one of my go-to recipes when I need a quick meal. I usually have them with rice, a bit of extra sugar and cinnamon. Yummy! Though they’re great with pancakes too!
