DIY gift tags

Hey everyone πŸ™‚

Time for a more light-hearted post.

First half of each year is always filled with tons of special occasions for me – all members of my close family have birthdays between March and July, there’s Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, Grandmother’s Day, Easter… and sometimes more if there’s something that deserves celebrating. Due to my busy lifestyle, I don’t always have time to prepare everything I need shortly before those occasions – that’s why I like to make some bits in advance while watching YouTube or Netflix.

Recently (well, since mid-December, really) I’ve been enjoying creating my own gift tags. I’ve always paid a lot of attention to wrapping gifts, making cards and simply personalizing everything I give to my nearest and dearest – I feel like even the tiniest gift feels special when you see the work someone’s put into it.

I always made a lot of cards, but there’s something soothing in making gift tags – I can easily make a bunch of those in one sitting and it feels great to see a pile of tiny little artworks in front of me after an evening with series. Now the only issue is that I’ll probably have to flood my family with presents this year, after just a week I already have a small box of gift tags πŸ˜€

Here are some examples of my creations. The technique I used there (and usually use for most of my papercraft projects) is called quilling, in case anyone’s wondering.

    1. Thanks! πŸ™‚ Actually, the first time I used that technique I wasn’t aware of its existence πŸ˜€ I was making a card and I just came up with the idea to cut a sheet of paper into stripes and then create flowers and vines and such… And I was like ‘wow, that looks okay, I wonder if there’s a store selling paper stripes cause cutting them yourself takes so bloody long!’. And so I googled it and learnt that I wasn’t the first one to come up with this technique πŸ˜€

  1. What a precious little craft to add to a gift! During the two or three weeks before Christmas I work frantically to make homemade presents for each of my family members, then wrap them and slap a store-bought sticker on the packaging or write their names in marker, but maybe for my next gift-making spree I’ll design gifts tags. I’ve seen paper crafting like this, but didn’t know its name until now. Yours are fantastic, the diamond flower one especially.
